Right-hand man to French pop provocateur Serge Gainsbourg, Jean-Claude Vannier recorded this 1972 LP in the same sessions as Gainsbourg's Melody Nelson. Vannier narrates a nightmarish trek through the Fly Kingdom backed by choirs, beats and silky strings. Only 100 copies or so of this avant-garde rock-opera were printed, which is why it's the Holy Grail for French psych and prog collectors; the vinyl version comes in an exactly reproduced gatefold sleeve, and the CD debut adds two bonus cuts to this outlandish ultra-obscurity!
